Humiliating Putin is good for the U.S., Ukraine, Russia, the body, and the soul.
Also good for schadenfreude purposes which are just as important.
There are those who believe that humiliating Vladimir Putin would be a bad idea. The most famous of them is President Emmanuel Macron. They often invoke the Versailles Treaty and the effect that it had on Germany, which is honestly an admission of historical ignorance.
First, Emperor Wilhelm II started the war, but a German republic, a democratic one, was forced to accept the treaty. If there is a revolution in Russia like there was in Germany in 1918, then we can treat Russia differently.
Second, and relatedly, the harsh conditions imposed on Germany led to the ascension of a nationalist, warmongering, genocidal tyrant to power who ended democracy. We already have a nationalist, warmongering, genocidal tyrant in Russia. What are we exactly worried about?
Third, German national and elite grievance from the Versailles Treaty was that they were humiliated after the war. Again, the Russian people and elite already believe that they were humiliated after the end of the Cold War. We can debate whether they were or not, and whether we could have handled the post-Cold-War era better. But fair or unfair, they already think that. Those worried about humiliation of Russia are worried about putting it in a position it already is in.
